Although I was there in the off-season, the location is great & the small staff worked hard to ensure that everything went well.
This is an expensive area for a good part of the year. There is nothing posh about the place. It'll need another renovation before too long

Hotel is near the train station, it takes 14 mins to walk there. Peninsula neighborhood definitely deserves your time and attention. We appreciated staying at Aqua. Artisans craft fair and other tourist destinations were situated within walking distance this place.

The hotel was located conveniently for walking to some nice restaurants and the yacht club. the room itself was clean and at a decent noise level. the included breakfast was sufficient with pleasant servers.
The hotel lacked electrical outlets in the room and offered no Wi-Fi connectivity away from the lobby.

We decided to go to Punta del Este on the spur of the moment and booked the Aqua Hotel as a splurge since it was almost twice the price of other 3* hotels we had booked on the trip. The "luxury" room was a very cramped bedroom with a comfortable queen bed, nightstand and TV. The bath was a tub/shower with heated floors, a very nice feature. The other part of the suite was a large room with one sofa, 2 hard chairs and a small round table. since the TV was in the bedroom it was of no use to us, but the staff allowed us to change to a better arranged room with no wall separating the 2 spaces. The maid was our favorite employee, very friendly and sincere.
The all white decor was very dirty, carpets had stains, upholstered furniture was dirty not worn, window in the first room didn't lock, and the clerk was annoyed when I asked if she had given us the wrong room because this did not seem like a superior room. The water pressure in the shower was very poor, the faucet in the sink produced more water. We walked out the 2nd day even though it was non refundable. It was worth paying more to just go elsewhere; that was the splurge!

A room safe and a small fridge were provided. Buffet breakfast offered tea, coffee, milk, butter, bread, croissants, pastries, ham, cheese, and two flavors of liquid yoghurt: it is more or less standard for hotels of this type in that part of the world. Room had an air conditioning unit and WiFi and there were two PC's available to guests in the lobby. The bed was comfortable. The staff was pleasant and helpful.
Bathroom poorly designed: shower booth very small but adequate; water leaked onto the bedroom's carpet and gave it a musty smell. The towels were very thin and would not dry from one day to the next; they were changed only by request. By the third day we were running out of soap: it was never replaced. Bedroom a bit cramped. Only one chair was provided. Closet was adequate, but no provision made to store suitcases. There was a very tiny desk.

Spent my Christmas vacation in the hotel last year and I was blown away by how close it was to all the attractions and hotspots in the city. It was just a stones throw away from everywhere I wanted to go! the staff were friendly and the breakfast buffet was heavenly. I was also impressed by the unlimited Wi-Fi access which was very handy since I was traveling with a friend who was glued to his phone.
Although the hotel was amazing, parking was a headache. We had to spend so much time searching for a place to park and ended up paying exorbitant fees for them.

I absolutely loved the location of the hotel - it was right in the heart of everything, with some great restaurants and shopping areas just a few steps away. Additionally, the hotel facilities were clean and very well-maintained, with great parking options and easy access to transportation. The breakfast spread was quite impressive and the staff was incredibly warm and welcoming.
Nothing it was perfect.
